27 yo BM presents with declining central vision for several months. Only after extensive discussion he admits that he had read on the internet that staring at the sun would strengthen his eyes. He did this three times as seen on the OCT below. I asked if he would stop doing this but he stated he would do this again and 45 minutes of discussion by me did not discourage him from his mission. I told him that I take care of one of his parents and ask him if that issue made him decide to “strengthen” his eyes. The question for you is what is the diagnosis of the parent?
